New York Jets

The New York Jets, one of the NFL’s most iconic yet star-crossed franchises, have long been defined by passionate fans, gritty defensive play, and an enduring quest to return to championship form. Founded in 1960 as the Titans of New York, the franchise’s most storied moment remains their historic Super Bowl III win in 1969, led by quarterback Joe Namath. Since then, the Jets have experienced flashes of promise but have struggled to consistently reach the NFL’s highest stages.

1990s–2000s: Defense-Driven Success and Playoff Runs

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Jets enjoyed some of their most competitive seasons. Under head coaches Bill Parcells and Herman Edwards, and with quarterbacks like Vinny Testaverde and Chad Pennington, the team made several playoff appearances. The 1998 season saw the Jets reach the AFC Championship Game, falling to the Denver Broncos. In 2009 and 2010, the Jets, under head coach Rex Ryan and quarterback Mark Sanchez, returned to the AFC Championship Game in back-to-back seasons, powered by a fierce defense and a strong run game. Both times, however, they fell just short of the Super Bowl.

2011–2022: Rebuilding and Searching for Stability

The next decade proved turbulent. A carousel of quarterbacks, including Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson, paired with inconsistent coaching and front office changes, kept the Jets from gaining traction. Despite boasting standout players like cornerback Darrelle Revis and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, the team failed to make the playoffs from 2011 through 2022.

2023–Present: New Era with Aaron Rodgers

The 2023 season ushered in renewed hope with the blockbuster acquisition of four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Though his debut was cut short due to injury, the team remains optimistic about their future. With a stacked defense led by All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner and dynamic playmakers like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, the Jets are poised to be serious contenders once Rodgers returns healthy.

Jets in London

The New York Jets played their first NFL London game in 2015, facing the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium and winning 27–14. In 2025, they return to London for the second time, continuing the NFL’s international push and expanding their global fanbase.
